Gang assault killer gets 20 years: "Rasaun Sanders, also known as “Boo Cracks,” 27, pled guilty to first-degree manslaughter and first-degree gang assault, both felonies, in connection with the stabbing death of Doug Williams on May 18.
Williams and a friend were walking home in Mount Vernon around 10:30 p.m. when a van that was parked, started driving up the street toward them. The four occupants got out and attacked the two with Sanders stabbing Williams to death.
Two other co-denfendants, Demitris Tyreek Royal-King, also known as “TY”, 18, and Janita Robinson, also known as “GG”, 26, both of Mount Vernon, were also sentenced Thursday with Royal-King receiving 3 ½ years in prison on a guilty plea to second-degree gang assault, and Robinson pleading guilty to second-degree attempted gang assault and receiving 2 ½ years in prison.
The fourth defendant, Roshawn Ward, also known as “SP”, 26, of Valhalla, is charged with gang assault in the second degree. That case is still pending. If convicted, Ward faces up to 15 years in prison."
