Brothers shot dead as Dublin gang war erupts: "Paul Corbally (35) and his brother Kenneth (32) were in a car in the Neilstown Road area of Clondalkin, west Dublin, just after 8pm when they were gunned down in cold blood.
Both brothers died at the scene. Gardai were trying to establish whether the injured teenager was in the car with the Corbally brothers or was a bystander. The teenager was hit in the arm. It is understood his injuries are not life threatening.
The brothers, who were well known to gardai, were originally from Drumfinn Avenue in Ballyfermot, Dublin.
Gardai were last night still trying to piece together the events leading up to the double killing.
It is understood the car in which the brothers were travelling may have slowed down when another car pulled alongside and the gunman opened fire with a hand gun, possibly an automatic pistol.
The hitman showed no mercy as he pumped bullets into his victims."
300 city firms in links to crime lords: "Police have uncovered gangster links at nearly 300 firms in and around Glasgow, The Evening Times can reveal today.
Detectives pinpointed the companies as they carried out their biggest ever campaign against the respectable “fronts” of organised crime in the west of Scotland.
They have flushed out firms as varied as second-hand car dealerships and tanning salons that they believe are being used as cover for major gangland figures.
Strathclyde Police used Proceeds of Crime laws to freeze some £3.5 million in assets at the companies and seized more than another £300,000 in goods and cash during their six-week Operation Enterprise.
But they have also, for the first time, revealed the true scale of criminal infiltration of Glasgow’s business world.
Detective Inspector Joe McKerns, said: “We have identified almost 300 businesses as having links to organised crime groups.”"

More foreigners trafficking drugs

More foreigners trafficking drugs: "Cases of foreigners dealing illicit drugs have risen significantly and Beijing has become a consumption market rather than just a stop on the smuggling route, officials from the Beijing High People's Court said on Thursday.
The court heard 36 such drug smuggling cases in 2009, 28.5 percent more than in 2008.
In 2008, the court issued verdicts in 28 drug smuggling trials involving foreigners and seized 54 kg of drugs, 30 percent and 90 percent more respectively than 2007. Heroin and methamphetamine, known as 'ice', are the dominant illicit drugs.

Last year, all courts in Beijing handled a total of 1,318 drug cases involving 1,713 suspects and convicted offenders, an increase of 92 percent and 103 percent respectively on the 2006 figures.
During the past three years, the percentages of criminals who got sentences were 92.1 percent, 94.3 percent and 97 percent.
The courts are also meting out tougher penalties.
Almost 20 percent of criminals got severe punishment with prison terms of more than five years; some received death sentences."

Scott Mayberry of the Redding Police Department. He said there could be more gang members that police don’t know about.
Redding police continue to say that the gang problem in Redding is being imported by out-of-town gangs — chiefly the Norteños and Sureños — who they say are recruiting locals into their ranks. They’ve declined to say which cities the gangs are coming from.

GANGS -"Valley's two most established gangs are 18 Street and Florencia 13. Most 18 Street membership/affiliation lives within the city of Walla Walla. Most Florencia 13 membership/affiliation lives in the Milton-Freewater area.
Both of these gangs are Sureño-based, meaning they emulate Southern California Hispanic-style gangs. They use the color blue as their gang color. They will display this in the clothing they wear and the handkerchiefs they carry nicely folded and pressed. This is referred to as their 'flag.' If a subject is displaying a flag in this manner, chances are pretty good he or she has been accepted into the gang by being jumped in.
18 Street and Florencia 13 rival each other. Both gangs are involved in assaults, graffiti, drive-by shootings and narcotics use and sales. We estimate 18 Street has approximately 200 members/affiliates locally and Florencia 13 has approximately 100 members/affiliates"
GANGS - Gangs in the Valley: An overview Walla Walla Union-Bulletin: "The 18 Street gang (with Westside and Northside cliques), Florencia 13, Eastgate Posse, Deuce Four Seven Crips and Labor Camp Soldiers.
We estimate there are 300-500 gang members/affiliates in the Walla Walla Valley from the 'wannabe' level up through the veteran gangster. It is very difficult to put an exact number on the membership/affiliation because we are seeing more and more youths (male and female) showing an interest in gangs.
The 'wannabe' is a term used to imply someone is not a 'real gangster,' but only wants to be. Law enforcement's gang unit does not like this term because it implies there is no real threat. It has been our experience that someone has either adopted the gang mentality or has not."
