American rapper Lil Wayne has had to fight off rumours that he has been shot dead over the weekend, after he allegedly got involved in a gang dispute.The reports, which started surfacing online on August 1, stated that Wayne, 26, had fallen victim to the ongoing battle between the notorious Los Angeles gangs the Bloods and the Crips, reports Contactmusic. The reports claimed that Wayne, real name Dwayne Carter, Jr., had suffered six gunshot wounds after being hit with a 9mm semi automatic handgun, following a performance in his native New Orleans, Louisiana.
But the rumours proved to be just a hoax, as the rapper was nowhere near Louisiana when the incident allegedly happened, as he was touring the East Coast with his Young Money crew. Wayne performed as scheduled in Long Island, New York on August 1 and played another show in Virginia on August 2.
