Murdered gangster Kevin 'Gerbil' Carroll laid to rest as mourners are told 'he had heart of gold' - The Daily Record: "FEARED gangland enforcer Kevin 'Gerbil' Carroll was laid to rest yesterday - after mourners were told he had a 'heart of gold'.
The 29-year-old was executed in a hail of bullets in broad daylight outside an Asda supermarket in January.
And yesterday, 250 crime associates and family members heard a moving tribute to the gangster who slashed and tortured his way to the top of Glasgow's underworld.
After a half-hour service at Maryhill Crematorium, the coffin was paraded through the streets in a glass-sided horse-drawn carriage before Carroll was buried at Lang Faulds Cemetery in Bearsden.
Floral tributes spelled the words 'Adios Amigo' and 'Gerbil' while one was in the shape of a Red Bull can."
