Two counts of driving while her licence was suspended were dropped at Heidelberg Magistrates' Court without explanation.
"The charges carrying the threat of prison have been withdrawn," her lawyer Emma Turnbull told the court. Magistrate Jillian Crowe responded: "Lucky."
Williams has three convictions for driving while suspended and a third conviction for the offence carries a mandatory jail term.
When Williams faced court on her third conviction in 2007 her jail term was suspended after she said she cared for her dying sister's child.
Williams, of Essendon, yesterday pleaded guilty to a count of executing an illegal turn, and two counts of driving an unregistered vehicle.
She was fined $1200 and the magistrate was told she can reapply for a licence next week.
Williams is the former wife of drug boss and underworld killer Carl Williams, who is serving a minimum 35 years in prison.
Ms Turnbull said Williams was driving her deceased mother-in-law's car and realised she should not have been behind the wheel.
The lawyer said her client had been ill and was released from hospital last week.
Prosecutor Danny Steele said police alleged Williams executed the illegal turn to avoid a booze bus.
Ms Turnbull said her client disputed this and said that she crossed two lanes .
