Special squads from the Bulgarian Criminal Police Directorate have arrested Ivaylo Borisov aka Torino, after a lengthy search operation. Borisov is a known associate of Zlatomir Ivanov aka Baretata.The police had been actively tracking him over the last days in the area of Samokov, a town some 60 kms south-east of the capital Sofia.He was finally discovered at the apartment of his friend, nicknamed Veseloto (Cheerful), and arrested without putting up any resistance, the Interior Ministry press office has announced on Thursday. Investigations are continuing.Borisov, better known in Gorublyane as Ivo the Torino, is also one of the circle close to Nikolay Kolev, who was shot and murdered some years ago by unknown gunmen.'Ivo the Torino' has a criminal record and is well-known to the Interior Ministry. He has a reputation as an expert in "lifting" trucks from superstore and other car parks.There are two outstanding legal cases against him, and he has been bailed in both procedures.
In August 2004, the police located two blackmailers who had bullied people with vehicle thefts, threats of explosion and telephone harassment. Angel A. aka Acho from Samokov and 20-year-old Ivaylo Borisov were discovered, following the alarm raised by one of their victims.Both were charged with racketeering for purposes of stealing a car. The men had demanded BGN 3 000 to return the man's stolen car, and then insisted on yet another BGN 5 000 not to blow up the offices of the companies managed by the victim.On February 8, 2009, the Torino was accused of complicity with former commando Zlatko Ivanov in being the head of a gang involved in drug trafficking and murder.
