Someone fired at least 19 rounds into her home in the 3400 block of South Holly Place, striking her once in the hip."She was fortunate in that the bullet came through a wall and through her couch prior to striking her," said Lt. Sano in an email late last night. He added that
"Her house was definitely targeted because her son is a suspected gang member. He was not home at the time of the shooting. It was just her, alone, sitting on her couch and watching TV. She is very, very lucky that the rounds weren't a foot higher."
Neighbors in the area reported seeing a gray-blue SUV circling the neighborhood repeatedly yesterday afternoon between 3 and 4 pm. The description matches the one witnesses of last night's shooting gave to police.According to Lt. Sano, the rounds were 40-caliber and 9-mm and the Gang Unit is investigating. There were no arrests.
